Rafters 2017 Schedule

Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Rafters left 2016 behind with an incredible inaugural National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season in the books.  This year, the Rafters squad will hit this Spring with a full season comprised of 18 total games.  The first half of the season includes 8 friendly fixtures, including the second annual Un1tus Cup with a new format that brings a weekend of teams from Arkansas (Ozark FC), Oklahoma (Tulsa Athletic) and Texas (Fort Worth Vaqueros) playing in Shreveport/Bossier in early May on the 6th and 7th.  That tournament will also host a first-ever Supporter’s Symposium that will draw upon the loyal and dogmatic team supporters, known as the Riverjacks, to host supporters groups from the other tournament participant teams.  Details of that tournament will be posted in the coming weeks.

Also featured this season is the return of the Texas Trail Classic against FTW Vaqueros during our Conference Matches on May 24th and June 17th.  The Louisiana Cup, a fan favorite, will host Louisiana rivals, the New Orleans Jesters, on May 10th and will also be the debut of the 2017 Special Jersey.  The first home game of the season is a fixture on April 22nd against the highly competitive Little Rock Rangers.

NPSL Conference play for the Rafters include ten matches, 5 home and 5 away, in the Southern division of the former South Central Conference.  That new alignment, due to the explosive growth of the NPSL, includes Tyler FC, Fort Worth Vaqueros, Midland-Odessa FC, Dutch Lions of Conroe, TX and the Houston Regals SC. The top four teams at the end of the season will move on to play in the Confernce Playoffs and the winner will face off in a regional semi-final against a former South Central Conference foe from last season.

The Rafters boasted a 7-1-1 home record last year as well as some of the highest attended games in the South Central Conference.  A mix of unique marketing and family-friendly atmosphere treated Shreveport/Bossier residents to an exciting and competitive season.  Roster announcements will begin in the coming weeks.  Season tickets are still available to purchase online at the Rafters FC shop.  The Rafters also announced a second team, the Women’s Premier Soccer League squad called the Lady Rafters.  A schedule and conference announcement are due to be announced shortly.
